Anti-U.S. protests rage in Yemen over film

Anti-American protests rage near the U.S. Embassy in the Yemeni capital, a day after demonstrators stormed the compound, angry over a film deemed blasphemous to Islam.

The low-budget video, produced in the United States, depicts the Prophet Mohammed as a fraud, a philanderer and a womaniser - angering many in the Muslim world.

Violence has flared in cities across the Middle East this week in reaction to the film, with Western embassies tightening security.

In Sanaa, security forces fired warning shots and used water cannons to quell the protest.

All streets leading to the U.S. embassy were blocked.

One protester said he came to defend Islam and to call for the producer of the controversial film to be punished.

At least one person died and 15 were injured in clashes at the embassy the previous day.
