Two car bombs exploded outside crime investigation offices in Iraq's ethnically mixed city of Kirkuk on Sunday (September 9), killing seven people and wounding at least 40 others, police said.

Kirkuk was also hit by a car bomb on Sunday that killed eight people who were queuing to apply to be recruited as police guards for the Iraqi North Oil Company, police added.

The explosions were among a series of attacks and blasts across Iraq during the day that killed at least 58 people, including a car bomb outside a French consulate.
