Vietnam is rain-battered, 29 dead

At least 29 are dead after landslides and flooding sweep through northern and central Vietnam.

On Saturday, state TV showed residents struggling with torrential rains and rushing rivers.

The government is evacuating residents in affected areas against the backdrop of more rain.

Vietnam is regularly battered with wet weather and flooding during the rainy season.

The problem is exacerbated by the country's low lying communities that are densely populated.

Natural disasters are responsible for killing more than 400 people every year.
