Talks with FARC win support in Colombia

A former Colombian senator has asked the government to maintain a ceasefire with FARC rebels to end a decades-old conflict.

Piedad Cordoba has also called for greater public influence over the peace process.

Earlier this week the president, Juan Manuel Santos, confirmed exploratory talks with the leftist guerrilla group are under way.
