Family and friends of Neil Armstrong gather to pay him tribute at a private memorial service in Cincinnati.

Armstrong made history in 1969, becoming the first man to walk on the surface of the moon.

Hailed as a national hero, he died last week following complications from heart surgery.

He was 82.

The memorial service celebrated Armstrong's life and achievements.

Among the mourners were his wife Carol, and one of his 10 grandchildren.

Also present were his two Apollo 11 crew mates Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin.

Later this month a national memorial service is expected to be held in Washington to honour the astronaut.
