French president visits Afghanistan

The new French president Francois Hollande has defended his decision for an early pullout of French troops from Afghanistan, during a surprise visit to the country.

Speaking at a press conference with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai, Hollande asserted the task of fighting the Taliban was close to complete.
