Ryan accepts VP nomination

It was the biggest speech of Republican Paul Ryan's career.

SOUNDBITE: Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan saying:

"I am honored by the support of this convention for the nomination to be vice president of the United States."

The Wisconsin congressman said he and running mate Mitt Romney would resuscitate the U.S. economy.

SOUNDBITE: Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan saying:

"After four years of getting the run-around, America needs a turnaround, and the man for the job is Governor Mitt Romney. College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life."

He also took aim at the president's stimulus package and the president's healthcare plan.

SOUNDBITE: Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan saying

"Obamacare comes to more than two thousand pages of rules, mandates, taxes, fees, and fines that have no place in a free country."

It didn't end there.

SOUNDBITE: Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan saying

"I have never seen opponents so silent about their record and so desperate to keep power."

Republicans are hoping Ryan, a conservative will energize the party's base for what is expected to be tight race. The latest Reuters/Ipsos survey shows Romney and Obama deadlocked among voters with 43 percent each.
