Putin critic barred from Russia elections

A leading liberal challenger to Vladimir Putin in the Russian presidential elections in March has been disqualified from the poll.

The country's rules say candidates need to gather two million signatures from supporters to get a place on the ballot paper.

But, Grigory Yavlinsky is alleged to have handed in thousands of fakes.
