Libya moves to legalise Egyptian workers

Libya's transitional government is expected to work out a plan to legalise Egyptian workers who entered the country without visas during last year's uprisings against Muammar Gaddafi.

Over one million Egyptian workers left Libya when fighting between the rebel forces and those loyal to Gaddafi broke out. With rebuilding efforts offering a much-needed source of income for manual labourers, many are eager to return.

With Egypt's military leaders meeting visiting Libya, the transitional government is expected to raise the issue of finding legal paths for the Egyptians, who comprise the majority of Libya's manual workforce, to return.
