Six months on, South Sudan struggles

It has been almost exactly a year since 99 per cent of people in southern Sudan voted in favour of breaking away from the north and forming their own country.

South Sudan was declared the world's newest country on July 9 last year 2011, but six months later, it is still struggling to recover from years of conflict.
