Turkey's prime minister has been meeting military leaders to appoint new commanders for all the branches of the armed forces.
Last week, all four chiefs-of-staff quit after the arrest of dozens of other soldiers for allegedly plotting a coup.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan has clashed with the military since he arrived in office in 2002.
These vacancies give him the chance to consolidate his control by appointing his own choices into the top positions.
The promotions will all be announced on Thursday.
