Walid al-Muallem, Syria's foreign minister, has hit back at international criticism to President Bashar Al Assad's speech on Monday.

Speaking in Damascus on Wednesday, he rejected the latest round of European Union sanctions on his government.

He also blamed the EU for creating the unrest in his country. But he did call for eased relations with neighbouring Turkey.

Al Jazeera's Imran Khan reports.
