Doctors Say No To Medicaid

Dr. David Samadi, the nation’s top robotic prostatectomy surgeon, comments on a recent poll of physicians throughout the U.S. regarding Medicaid and private insurance. The consensus found in interviewing more than 4,000 doctors is that 1 in 3 are not accepting Medicaid patients. Even more alarming, in the state of New Jersey 60 percent of doctors are refusing patients on Medicaid. Dr. Samadi points out that there are increasing limitations on the number of physicians welcoming patients with private insurance, as well. The crux of the issues appears to be declining reimbursements in the midst of the increasing administrative costs of running a medical practice. Dr. Samadi concurs with the interviewer that the lack of government recognition and support of these constraints is beginning to affect patient care.
