Aftermath of two quakes in Iran

Two powerful earthquakes killed over 200 people and injured around 1,500 in northwest Iran.

Local television shows collapsed buildings and destroyed villages.

Officials expect casualty numbers to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition and rescuers have difficulties reaching those still trapped under rubble.

Thousands fled their homes in panic, and stayed overnight in makeshift camps, too afraid to return.

There were about 40 aftershocks after the quakes.
