Chronic Diseases On The Rise

American adults are living with more chronic conditions, says leading prostate cancer robotic surgeon Dr. David Samadi. According to new research, half of all adults over age 65 have two or more chronic illnesses. Researchers evaluated nine chronic health issues such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer during this exploration. Dr. Samadi shared his views on what’s causing the climb in chronic illness. Among the triggers, he believes, are the cost of medicine, lack of medical compliance and routine care, and the fact that most adults are living longer. Modern medicine is able to detect more illnesses sooner, and obesity is the driver of many of these conditions. Prevention is the way to go in the future, says Dr. Samadi, who urges Americans to stop smoking, exercise more, and cut down on white flour, sugar, and salt in their diets.
