Usain Bolt delivers gold as he retains his Olympic 100 meter title Sunday when the Jamaican scorched down the track in 9.63 seconds, an Olympic record.

Bolt made up a massive early deficit that had given a sliver of hope to his rivals.

Speaking to Reuters in June, Bolt said his only aim was to retain his Olympic titles in London in order to create his legacy.

"It's very important, I'd say. I want to be a legend and that is what it takes. It is very, very important and it is pretty much the elite, so I have to go out there and execute and do extremely well."

Bolt will now bid to complete an unprecedented double-double by retaining his 200 meters title and will also seek a sixth gold in the 4x100 meter relay.
