About Global Village Cambodia:
Global Village Cambodia is a non-profit organization formed to meet the growing need for education in rural Cambodia. It focuses on arts education in the Samlout District in the northwestern part of the country.
The organization is a proponent of effective altruism. Its objective is to introduce music education at a rural high school and to help the surrounding region transition from a tumultuous past and an impoverished present to a harmonious future. A major goal is to create a model for introducing music education that will empower people and further their ability to communicate internationally beyond the limits of conventional language. The project is based on an alliance with the school's teachers and on working with indigenous musicians. The idea is that it will be replicated at other schools in the Southeast Asian region.
The exploratory phase of the project "Music Education at Samlout High School" was completed in early 2012, and the project's first phase is planned for 2012-2015.
The organization welcomes sponsors, partnerships, and collaborations.
