Libya's NTC claims capture of Gaddafi son

Libya's National Transitional Council claims it has captured Mutassim Gaddafi, one of ousted leader Muammar Gaddafi's sons. Officials said Mutassim was arrested on Wednesday in Sirte, Gaddafi's embattled coastal hometown, and has been transferred to Benghazi.

But as of early Thursday morning, high-level NTC officials in Tripoli said they could not confirm the news. A military spokesman said he had not spoken with anyone who had seen Mutassim.

That did not stop citizens of the capital from celebrating, firing guns into the air and sounding their horns.
