Wave of discontent grips Romania

Romania's prime minister has warned anti-government protesters that violence will not be tolerated after days of protests in the capital Bucharest.

Emile Boc's comments followed clashes on Monday, prompted by the resignation of a respected health official, Raed Arafat, over his opposition to government healthcare plans.

Protesters are demonstrating against government spending cuts, the high cost of living and corruption.
