The US is warning Iran against closing a vital oil-trade route.
About 40 per cent of the world's oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz, but Iran is threatening to block it if Western powers impose new sanctions.
The navy chief says shutting the strait would be"easier than drinking a glass of water''.
