Life's a beach for Sri Lankan cricket

The first Cricket World Cup 2011 semifinal saw co-hosts Sri Lanka face New Zealand.

Al Jazeera's Rahul Pathak previewed the match from the seaside capital of Colombo, where he spoke to Sidath Wettimuny - part of the Sri Lankan side that went from associate to Test status in 1982.

This semifinal was a repeat of the 2007 tournament when the teams met at the same stage.

New Zealand have never gone beyond the World Cup semifinals, while Sri Lanka were looking for their second-consecutive final appearance.

They also won the tournament on home soil in 1996 - an incredible achievement for a team who had only been in cricket's top tier for 14 years.
