Amid continuing protests, President Ali Abdullah Saleh vowed on Sunday to fight "with every drop of blood" to remain in power.

Describing pro-democracy protesters' demands as "illegitimate", he said there was a conspiracy to split the country.

Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra, reporting from Sanaa, says Saleh is rallying his generals to "defend the country".
