Creepy 'Serial Hugger' Targeting Women in St. Louis - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

For some Missouri women, hugs have become creepy and violating.

Being dubbed as the "Serial Hugger", a man has allegedly been pretending to know women shoppers in the suburbs of St. Louis and then luring them into giving him a hug.

Why would 30 plus women embrace the stranger? It seems that he is quite clever at fooling them into believing they know one another. According to one of the police detectives, "He'd say, 'Hi, remember me? I lived down the street in the corner house. How ya been?’....he did it so quickly and convincingly that they felt embarrassed that they didn't know him."

The local police have identified the 44 year old man but they are not sure yet that his acts are unlawful.

Several years ago an Australian man became a national sensation after a video was uploaded on Youtube showing him offering Free Hugs in large public areas. The video became an instant hit and began a worldwide campaign to spread random acts of kindness through hugging a stranger.
