Shuttle Enterprise Arrives at Intrepid Museum in New York City

On Wednesday, June 6, space shuttle Enterprise, NASA's prototype orbiter that paved the way for the 30-year shuttle program, arrived at its final home -- the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City. Enterprise traveled up the Hudson River, passing by the Statue of Liberty and ground zero before docking alongside the floating Intrepid museum. From there, Enterprise was hoisted by crane onto Intrepid's flight deck. Enterprise will be on exhibit to the public starting this summer in a temporary climate-controlled pavilion. The Intrepid continues to work on a permanent exhibit facility to showcase Enterprise that will enhance the museum's space-related exhibits and education curriculum. Includes video and still imagery.
