It was originally featured in the musical comedy "Runnin' Wild". Arthur Gibbs was a black pianist and from ca 1923 he led his own orchestra, which was featured on the record labels as "Gang". In mid- and late 1920s. Arthur Gibbs' band was playing at the Savoy and Arcadia Ballrooms in NYC.
