Groundbreaking Ceremony For Future Home of Space Shuttle Atlantis

NASA's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Jan. 18 at the site of shuttle Atlantis' future home. The facility where Atlantis will be displayed will provide guests with the opportunity to view Atlantis up close and will tell the story of Atlantis' and 30-years of Space Shuttle Program missions through a variety of hands-on, interactive exhibits.
Speakers participating in the ceremony included Janet Petro, Kennedy Space Center deputy director; Bill Moore, chief operating officer, Delaware North Parks and Resorts, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex; Jeremy Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer, Delaware North Companies; Chris Ferguson, commander Atlantis' final mission, STS-135, and the Honorable Jennifer Carroll, Lt. Gov. of the state Florida. The facility is expected to open in the summer of 2013.

PGAV Destinations is designing the facility for Delaware North.
