TV9 - Supporters of MLA Priya Krishna, Haj panel chief clash : "Suttu Hakibidtini" - Part 1...!
Supporters of Govindarajanagar MLA Priya Krishna and Bangalore Haj Committee chairperson Rafique got into skirmishes at an event attended by the MLA in Gangondanahalli on Monday.
Chandra Layout police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the groups, but didn’t register any case. However, S N Siddaramappa, DCP (West), ordered ACP attached to the Kengeri-gate sub-division to probe the incident.
The clash between the two groups broke out during the distribution of textbooks at a Urdu School in Gangondanahalli.
Rafique had taken up work on extending the school building and the residents complained to Priya Krishna that the construction materials were dumped on the road causing inconvenience to the road users.
When the MLA directed the contractor to clear the road, Rafique and his supporters refused to oblige. Soon, supporters of Priya Krihna and Rafique got into altercation.
Rafique alleged that the MLA’s gunman Chandrashekhar, threatened him at gunpoint and his group staged a protest in front of Chandra Layout police station, demanding action against the MLA.
Soon, the MLA’s supporters too rushed to the police and sought action against Rafique and his followers. Some of them tried to manhandle each other.
Priya Krishna said the police had registered several cases against Rafique in the past. He told the media that Rafique played the drama scripted by a BJP MLA.
Besides, the land on which the school is being constructed reportedly belongs to the Slum Development Board.
