State minister for law and parliamentary affairs S Suresh Kumar on Tuesday announced withdrawal of his resignation. The withdrawal of his resignation comes after state advocate general Vijay Shankar cleared him of the charges that he took a special housing site from the government violating rules.
“I have decided to withdraw the resignation as the AG has said in his report that I have not done anything wrong in securing the residential site. He has given me a clean chit after scrutinising the documents,” Kumar told reporters.
Kumar had resigned on June 23 after he was accused of obtaining the residential site measuring 4,000 square feet in upscale suburb of the city under the G category by withholding information that he and his family already owned residential sites and house in the city.
“My conscience is clear now, as I have been absolved of doing any wrong to secure a special site. I reiterate that I have not made any false claim or misrepresented facts relating to property owned by my family or me securing the site though I was legitimately entitled to as a three-time legislator from the city,” Kumar said.
Kumar, who represents Rajajinagar assembly segment in northwest Bangalore in the state legislative assembly, said he was deeply hurt by the allegations against him.
On Monday, chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda had directed the AG to verify the allegations levelled against Kumar by ex-party worker R Bhaskaran, who accessed documents through the Right to Information Act from the authorities, including the Bangalore Development Authority, which allots the residential sites on the recommendation of the chief minister. According to Shankar the documents revealed that Kumar had not violated norms, withheld relevant information or filed false affidavit to secure the alternate site, which was allotted after the original allotted site was denotified by the previous BJP government.
