STORY: The Queen celebrated her birthday in the 60th year of her reign as British monarch on Saturday (June 16) by watching the Trooping the Colour ceremony, which marks the occasion annually.

The ceremony, which takes place on Horseguards Parade, a short distance from Buckingham Palace, was attended by all the Royal Family, as well as British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Queen's husband, Prince Philip, managed to attend the ceremony, despite leaving hospital only a week beforehand.

Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, had been admitted to hospital with a bladder infection on June 4, shortly before the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert.
