Illegal quarrying in Karnataka caught on tape

Despite the Supreme Court order, a tape recording clearly shows how illegal mining is continuing in BR Hills in Karnataka's Chamrajnagar district. The apex court had prohibited quarrying in a 10 km radius of any wildlife sanctuary. However, blatant violation of the SC order continues in the black granite quarries. The government appears to be ignoring CAG which indicated that illegal quarrying caused a loss of nearly Rs 1683 cr to the exchequer in just two years.
