If you remember the names Messerschmitt or the ever popular Heinkel, and most people will think that it was the German plane makers in World War II. When it comes to cars, if a person tells you about BMW and most likely you will conjure up ideas of an expensive luxury cars. However, many might not realize this that this companies were involved in some way or the other in creating economical, small cars, often referred to before as bubble cars or the original 3 wheel cars.

Back in the 1950's, 3 wheel cars or cars with two wheels in front and the 3rd wheel at the rear is the most innovative car to reach the market. The advantage of a 3 wheel car was in some countries like the UK, where the law allows someone who has a license to drive a motorcycle license could also drive a 3 wheel car -- as long as it didn't have a reverse gear on it. If we look closely to this situation, it's quite odd for the law to never really put a solid regulation regarding 3 wheel cars, since the principles involved in driving a 3 wheel car are quite similar to those driving a 4 wheel car.
