Amidst the rubble of an Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip, a wounded man is uncovered.

Dozens of residents rushed to the site of the attack in Beit Lehiya looking for survivors - this man was immediately rushed to hospital.

The Israeli army said it targeted two suspected weapons manufacturing facilities in Gaza, in response to rocket fire into southern Israel.

But Reuters video shows damage to residential houses in Beit Lehiya.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RESIDENT, UMM SAEED:

"We were sleeping in one room and our children in another room. Then we saw missiles failing from a plane nearby the house - between our house and the site is less than 10 metres. The windows were broken and the walls were damaged, this should not happen."

Palestinian sources reported that two people were wounded in the strike.
