Some 16 Colombian residents buried themselves up to their necks to protest evictions.

Almost 300 families received an eviction warning in the city of Aguachica.

The residents said they would not leave.

"We want our problem solved, we want them to tell us the truth -- what will really happen to us. We do not want this today or tomorrow, we have the right to proper living."

Paramedics were called in after some protesters suffered from fatigue and dehydration.

The families said more people will join the protest if authorities decide to go on with the evictions.
