Annan struggles to save Syria truce

More than 100 are dead after the Friday attack - most executed by a pro-government militia, the UN says.
In response, UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan heads to a meeting with President Bashar al-Assad Tuesday.
Annan said he was shocked and horrified by the mass killing.
He was joined by Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad, who insists Syria has not violated the six-week-old ceasefire.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FAISAL MIQDAD, SYRIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER, SAYING:
"We think that Mr. Annan will make all efforts, in the next few days and weeks, to convince the countries that are financing and supporting those terrorist groups to stop lying about wanting the plan to succeed."
Neither international condemnations nor the presence of UN monitors have stemmed continued violence throughout the supposed truce.
