Poland left with broken promises - 18 Sept 09

One of the main components of US President George Bush's missile defence programme was to be housed in the town of Redzikowo in the north west corner of Poland.

In an old airbase on the edge of the city, ten missile silos would be the first line in defence against any attack from Iran.

But now the new US administration has decided to scrap the project, which residents hoped would bring investment and jobs to the area.

Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from Redzikowo.
