Ongoing violence in Afghanistan has been hampering the campaign for the country's presidential elections.

But despite this, one candidate has been making some surprising gains in the polls.

Former foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah once served in president Karzai's administration, but now looks set to be his former boss's main challenger.
