An apron-clad Thai prime minister begins her four-day Australia visit with a cooking demonstration at Thai food week in Sydney.

In front of a captive audience of distinguished guests and officials she joins celebrity chef David Thomson to prepare a spicy papaya salad for the approval of one of the guests.

Nineteen restaurants were honored at the event for maintaining high standards of Thai cuisine in Australia.

Yingluck Shinawatra is in Australia to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

She will meet her Australian counterpart, Julia Gillard, in the capital Canberra on Monday.
