Kylie Minogue hums a different tune at Cannes

Cars talk, a man is married to a monkey and Kylie Minogue contemplates suicide in easily the oddest movie in competition at the Cannes film festival, "Holy Motors."

At a press conferene, French director Leos Carax, refused to explain what the movie meant, but did say the film is not for the public.

SOUNDBITE: Leos Carax, director, saying (English):

"I don't know who is the public. All I know, it's a bunch of people who will be dead very soon ... I don't make public films, I make private films, and I invite whoever wants to come and see it."

Australian pop singer Kylie Monogue admitted she was "slightly terrified" at the thought of appearing in the movie, but also very excited.

"I was more than excited and happy to venture into this strange experience."

"Holy Motors" will compete against 22 other films for the coveted Palme d'Or - the winner will be announced on May 27th.
