Women cast key vote in Egypt poll

Lines grow long at a women-only polling station as voters wait anxiously to cast their ballot in Egypt's first competitive presidential elections.

After three weeks of campaigning, 12 candidates are in the race, two of whom will go to a second round of polling in June if there is no outright winner this week.

Women are a highly sought after constituency in the race as candidates jockey for last minute votes, with opinion polls indicating that woman make up a large portion of undecided voters.

Outside the polling station, a small group of protesters hold up photos of those who were killed during protests that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak over a year ago.

Many women in Egypt played leading roles during the popular uprisings that ousted the long-standing president.
