STORY: At least 33 people were injured when a freight train hit a commuter train in Brazil's business capital Sao Paulo on Wednesday, officials said.

The causes of the crash were still being investigated, but the transportation company blamed a system failure for the accident.

The crash took place in one of the city's busiest metro lines which carries some one million passengers everyday.

Witnesses said the freight train was moving at low speed when it hit the passenger train that had stopped at a station.

The incident raises questions about Brazil's overall precarious transportation system as it prepares to host the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games two years later.
