Paul Whiteman & His orchestra - That American Boy Of Mine, Foxtrot or Shimmy/One Step (G.Gershwin) from "The Dancing Girl", Victor 1923
Music for the Broadway Winter Garden musical play "The Dancing Girl" was written by Sigismond Romberg and his "additional composer" was Geroge Gershwin (meaning: Gershwin supplied and interpolated certain songs to Romberg's score). The play takes place on a ship sailing from Europe to New York Harbor. Not much more is available about that forgotten play, also - the music score of it seems to have fallen into oblivion. Paul Whiteman, however, makes here one more excellent musical performance. I really adore all those oldest Whiteman's accousticals!
