Paul Tremaine & His Orchestra - (That) Four/Four Rhythm

Paul Tremaine operated a popular East Coast dance orchestra from the 1920s to the 1940s. The group featured ensemble vocals and the trumpet work of future bandleader Sonny Dunham. Some of the sidemen included Cliff Harkness, Jay Wade, Arnold Lehner, Archie Newman, Bob Tremaine. During the early 1930s the orchestra resided at Yoeng's Chinese-American Restaurant on Broadway. It recorded for Victor and Columbia. Tremaine retired in the mid-1930s, only to form a new band a year later. The vocal on this fabulous 1929 record is by Paul Tremaine himself and uncredited band members; the footage is from a 1929 short featuring "Paul Tremaine and his Aristocrats". It should be noted that the official title of this song is "That Four/Four Rhythm" whereas on the disc label the article "The" is omitted.
