North and South Korea hold rallies against each other

South Korean protesters express their anger towards their northern neighbours.
Around 500 demonstrators, mostly war veterans, gathered in front of a central train station in Seoul, burning and attacking an effigy of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The protesters say Pyongyang has been threatening their country after South Korean President Lee Myung-bak criticised North Korea's failed rocket launch earlier this month.
(SOUNDBITE) (Korean) SOUTH KOREA'S CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST BONG TAE-HONG:
"We need to show our will to North Korea that we will retaliate drastically if they continue to make threats and intimidation like this. We also should be thoroughly ready for the North's possible provocations against our military"
Across the border the anger and distrust appears mutual.
North Korean state television broadcast pictures of soldiers firing at an effigy of the South Korean President.
Images were also shown of an anti-Lee student protest in Pyongyang.
North Korea's failed rocket launch received international condemnation, and tensions have been further raised by reports that the feisty state is preparing for a nuclear test.
