President Obama made a stop over at the Jimmy Fallon Show on Tuesday evening not only as a guest of the show, but also to “Slow Jam” the news.

Fallon, the former SNL cast member turned host of the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” show, has a musical routine which kicks off with NBC Primetime News anchor, Brian Williams, running down the headlines of the day. It leads into Fallon’s own jazzy and lyrical version of the news to conclude with The Roots musical crescendo. Roots front man Tariq 'Black Thought' Trotter's then makes a final, rhyming conclusion.

Last night, President Obama surprised the crowd at the UNC campus—where Fallon and company are filming “Late Night Show”—and stepped out from behind the curtain to take Williams’s spot and read through his own set of headlines. They were fashioned around student loans and the “Buffet Tax”.

While the “Slow Jam” did have its fair share of political punches, the tone was surrounded by more humor than punditry.
