Upon arrival in Tehran, Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has told Iranian officials that a security deal between the US and Iraq will not threaten Iran. Iran has made no secret of its opposition to the current negotiations going on between Iraq and the US, which are aimed at regulating the presence of US forces in the country after their UN mandate expires at the end of 2008. Can such a treaty take effect while maintaining Iraqi sovereignty and not posing a threat to Iran.
