Ewan McGregor and French designer Jean Paul Gaultier will be on the nine-member jury at this year's Cannes film festival, organizers said on Wednesday (April 25).

Beyonce was named the world's most beautiful woman for 2012 on Wednesday (April 25) by People magazine. The 30-year-old entertainer was awarded People's top spot after she and her rapper husband Jay-Z welcomed their first child in January. Beyonce topped the magazine's annual list and joined other women who have held the title including Michelle Pfeiffer, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie and last year's winner Jennifer Lopez.

Director Peter Jackson has unveiled 10 minutes of footage of "The Hobbit" to mixed reactions at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas. The prequel to his Oscar-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is due out in cinemas in December. The new film has been shot at a rate of 48 frames per second, compared with the industry standard of 24 frames. The higher frame rate may take audiences some getting used to as it gives the image a very realistic feel. Avatar director James Cameron has promised to shoot that blockbuster's sequel at the higher frame rate as well.

Bosnia's capital has named Angelina Jolie its honorary citizen. A statement issued by the Sarajevo authorities Wednesday said it made the decision in recognition of Jolie's role in preserving the "truth about the war" in Bosnia, through her directorial debut "In the Land of Blood and Honey." It was not yet clear if Jolie will attend a May 3 ceremony in Sarajevo.
