Catherine Zeta-Jones honors Micheal Douglas

STORY: Actor Michael Douglas was honored by his wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, at the 12th Annual Monte Cristo Awards on Monday (April 16) night in New York City.

The veteran actor was presented with the Monte Cristo Award from the Eugene O'Neil Theater Center to salute his accomplishments and assistance to the global theater community. On the red carpet Jones said Douglas' contributions are countless.

With a career that has spanned nearly 50 years, two Oscars, three Golden Globes and countless other accolades, Douglas said the night's honor takes him back to the beginning of his career.

"This award means a tremendous amount to me, it brings back a lot of memories and it was a interval part and an important part of my growth and development to this day as an actor," Douglas told the crowd.

Michael Douglas fan and fellow actor Angela Lansbury was excited to see Douglas get the award and explained why the center is important to the arts community.

The night ended with Zeta-Jones presenting Douglas with the award, a first for the Hollywood power couple, revealed Douglas.

As the 12th recipient of the Monte Cristo Award Douglas joins a class of actors that includes James Earl Jones and Kevin Spacey.
