FROM SWEENEYS BAR ON DAME STREET
PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
Kaleido-folk are an up and coming acoustic act made up of musicians Sinéad Bermigham and Barry O' Sullivan that bring their unique blend of pop, folk and rock sensibilities mixed together with unconventional yet eye-catching support instrumentation in the form of a cello, drums and harp, thereby defying any straightforward musical classification. A mutual love and admiration of acts new and old is at the centre of this, from the Beatles to Joanna Newsom and Elliott Smith to Laura Marling. Fresh off the excitement and career jump-start of their very first E.P, "Sounds of the Side Room", the group are in full momentum and swing to take the Irish scene by storm. With an up coming E.P launch at hand and a committed will to push the music as far as it can go, Kaleido-folk are sure to make an impact here. The music ranges from delicate, brittle and tenderly crafted ballads like "Lights Fade Away", to more up beat, curious and engaging numbers such as "Fallen Leaves". If the waving and hypnotising vocal melodies and harmonies won't draw you in, the intricately detailed and idiosyncratic guitar work weaved between Barry and Sinéad, supported by the mesmerising and touching ornamentation of the harp and cello are sure to leave a mark.
