STORY: Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Havana Tuesday after honoring Cuba's patron saint, the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre.

The Pope's visit has been timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the venerated icon of the saint found floating in the sea by fishermen.

Havana's Archbishop Jaime Ortega greeted the pontiff at Jose Marti's international airport along with other church officials.

The pontiff is expected to meet with President Raul Castro later in the day and will preside over a mass in the Jose Marti Revolution Square Wednesday.
