It's hard to avoid music when it is around you all of the time. David grew up in a household that lived and breathed music. His dad is a professional luthier in BC and there were always music and "jam" nights happening in the family home.
Growing up in many different cities in western Canada, David's family moved throughout his upbringing which naturally steered him towards being an introspective loner type. He had lots of time to play guitar--sitting in the basement for hours fast forwarding and rewinding tapes and CDs to learn songs by ear note by note.
He is a self-proclaimed strummer and thrives on writing songs that make people feel something when they listen to them rather than paying attention to complicated musical elements. David says, "I like to keep things simple,... and I am not exactly a 'shredder' anyway".
In early 2010, David was encouraged by a bunch of his friends & family to finally record his songs. David's debut EP, Handwritten, was self-released in November 2010. David is managed by Belle Management.
